Due to a recent bug introduced by Microsoft to their Visual C++ Redistributable, you may encounter issues when using ACDSee if you have recently updated your Visual C++ Redistributable to version 14.50.
The Redistributable may have been updated automatically if you installed Visual Studio 2026 (either Insiders or the official version released last week). We have confirmed that other software is encountering similar issues, such as in these posts: (1) Calling-omp_set_dynamic and (2) Installing Visual Studio 2026 Insider Preview C++ breaks Apps.
To verify which version of the Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable is installed on your system, please go to Settings > Apps > Installed Apps and check the installed “Visual C++ Redistributable” version
Before Microsoft addresses the issue, please try the following workaround to address the issue
1. Close the ACDSee program if it is running.
2. Download the vcomp140.dll file from the following link:
https://dl.acdsystems.com/support/vcomp140.dll
3. In Windows File Explorer, navigate to the ACDSee application folder.
By default, for Ultimate 2026, the folder path is:
C:\Program Files\ACD Systems\ACDSee Ultimate\19.0
4. Copy the downloaded file "vcomp140.dll" (from step 2) and paste it into the application folder (see step 3)
