To maintain your database information, categorization, and links, it is important to copy and move your files within ACDSee. You can use the Copy To Folder and Move To Folder commands to relocate files and folders on your hard drive.
Please note that if you do NOT use ACDSee to move or copy your files, e.g. you choose Windows File Explorer to copy or move the files, you will break the link to any database information you have added to those files. This is because ACDSee cannot track the files.
To copy files to another folder:
1. In the File List pane, select one or more files, and then click Edit | Copy To Folder… or press Alt + C.
2. In the Copy To Folder dialog, choose a destination folder, and press OK.
You can also use the keyboard shortcuts for Copy (Ctrl + C) and Paste (Ctrl + V) to copy selected files and paste them into a different folder.
To move files to another folder:
1. To use Move to folder, click Edit | Move To Folder… or press Alt + M.
2. In the Move To Folder dialog, choose a destination folder, and press OK.
You can also use the keyboard shortcuts for Cut (Ctrl + X) and Paste (Ctrl + V) to move selected files to a different folder.
